Strung Rosaries

To honor our Guardian Angels, Rebecca’s Rosaries has begun a series of Angel Rosaries. This is the first in the series. This beautiful rosary is made of 8mm Czech glass beads in pale green and pink shades with sterling silver spacer beads. The photo does not capture the translucence or the color well. The Our Father Beads are 15mm beveled hearts, representing God’s Love, in the same colors. The angel centerpiece and double-sided French crucifix dating to the early 1900’s, are hand cast in Sterling silver. This is a one-of-a-kind rosary, and will not be repeated.

Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared in Mexico as the pregnant Mother of God to Saint Juan Diego, a Chicemeca Indian, on December 9, 10 and 12, 1531. She left a Miraculous Image of her appearance on his cactus fiber cloak, or "tilma", which still exists today for all to see in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

Our Lady came to offer faith, hope and consolation to the oppressed natives of Mexico and to reconcile them with their Spanish rulers.  She put an end to the bloody human sacrifice of the Aztecs and converted nine million natives in the next nine years.

In April of 1990 Juan Diego was declared Blessed by Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. The following month, in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, during his second visit to the shrine, John Paul II performed the beatification ceremony. On July 2002 he was canonized by the Church, during a ceremony celebrated by John Paul II, again in the Basilica of Guadalupe.

Pope John Paul II praised Juan Diego for his simple faith nourished by catechesis and pictured him (who said to the Blessed Virgin Mary: "I am a nobody, I am a small rope, a tiny ladder, the tail end, a leaf") as a model of humility for all of us.

This rosary was made with Juan Diego in mind. It represents masculinity and humility; perfect for any Catholic man. The 8mm Aves and 10mm Paters are made from Bethlehem Olivewood. The Paters are capped by thin Turquoise chips, and the Aves are spaced by 4mm Turquoise rondelles. The center is a hand cast reproduction of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Bronze. The design dates to the 1800’s and found in Oaxaca Mexico. The cross is also hand-cast in Bronze, and dates to the 1800’s. This cross may be exchanged for a more traditional crucifix from Latin America.

Mystical Rose

Mary is the most beautiful flower in the garden of our lives. When darkness burdens our hearts, we withdraw into the heart of her petals where we are caressed until sunlight returns. She supports us when the winds of our trials would have us fall and in our awareness of this protection, we sense that gentle fragrance that is hers alone. Mary is our Mystical Rose.

Layered metal roses are the Paters in this rosary. Green seed beads lead into each rose symbolizing the support of their stem and reminding us that Mary supports us through the wind and storms of our lives. Sparkling German crystal atop each rose represents the morning’s dew calling us to a prayer of gratitude for the sunlight she brings to each new day. Deep rose Czech glass Aves are spaced with a deeper shade of Bavarian glass. A laced edge Miraculous Medal center and vintage Czech crucifix complete this gentle rosary which measures 22".

Representing Juan Diego’s innocence and Mary’s purity, we begin this rosary with milk white glass Aves. He saw a ball of light surrounding Our Lady. Symbolizing this, we’ve chosen to space the white with yellow Bavarian crystal. Floral hand painted china Paters call to mind the flowers Juan carried, under his tilma, to the bishop. These flowers, of course, also represent Mary as Mystical Rose. Completed with symbolically colored enameled Our Lady of Guadalupe crucifix and center, this limited edition rosary measures 22".

Our Lady of Guadalupe, who blessed Mexico and all the Americas by your appearance to Juan Diego, intercede for the holy Church, protect the pope, and help everyone who invokes you in their necessities. Consecration to Mary

My Queen and my Mother,

Shades of purple, a color which represents royalty, is the palette for this rosary. Purple AB Czech glass Aves, are spaced with a lighter shade seed. Shades of purple and gold are the cloisonne Paters. In this bead, Mary is not only represented by the color but also by the floral design (It is said that St. Francis of Assisi took great care not to step on even the least flower, as it was a symbol of Mary). This rosary is designed to reflect the colors of the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Gold is used throughout the rosary for the pervasive use of gold in the icon - from 2mm gold-filled rounds for the gold highlights in Our Lady's clothing, to the 3mm vermeil daisy spacers capping the Paters for the Christ Child's clothing, to the gold-plated sterling crucifix and center for the golden background of the icon. The intricate crucifix is reminiscent of the crowns worn by both Our Lord and Our Lady in the icon. The centerpiece itself bears a bas-relief image of the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This center was custom-cast in sterling silver from a vintage Our Lady of Perpetual Help medal.

8mm Czech Firepolished Aves in Capri Blue match Our Lady's outer mantle, with red seed beads for the clothing beneath the mantle. Meanwhile, 10mm round red flower jasper Paters pick up the red-brown of the Christ Child's outer mantle, capped with vermeil daisy spacers and 4mm green druks for His green inner clothing.

The blue and white chevron Paters of this rosary, capped with pewter bead caps and Swarovski crystals, remind me of the columns of the ancient coliseum in Rome, where many Christians lost their lives for their faith. I used pewter instead of sterling for the bead caps, to signify the sword by which many Christians died in forced gladitorial combat, contrasted with Swarovski crystals to signify the opulence of the Roman Caesars who condemned these Christians to such a horrible death. Sky blue quartz Aves complement the blue in the Paters, and remind us that the martyrs of the Coliseum are now saints in heaven.

The entire rosary is strung on platinum-quality flexwire. The crucifix and center are cast in pewter. The center is Mary with the Christ Child on her lap.

The New Catholic Dictionary defines "House Of Gold" as:
A symbolic title given the Blessed Virgin in the Litany of Loreto denoting her personal perfection and her office of Divine motherhood. She was the house wherein God dwelt, and for His sake, a house of gold, that is, adorned with the most precious virtues.

This rosary is dedicated to Mary, House of Gold.

There is no gem, no color, no aspect in all of nature that can adequately describe or represent Mary. Cardinal Newman said she is called Golden because gold is the most beautiful, the most valuable, of all metals. He said there is nothing so rich or splendid, as gold. With this in mind, we have created this rosary entirely in shades of gold and we recognize that it is dull in comparison the brilliance of Mary.

It is recorded that when St. Patrick and St. Brigid were united in their last prayer, a special vision was shown to him. He saw the whole of Ireland lit up with the brightest rays of Divine Faith. This continued for centuries, and then clouds gathered around the devoted island, and, little by little, the religious glory faded away, until, in the course of centuries, it was only in the remotest valleys that some glimmer of its light remained. St. Patrick prayed that the light would never be extinguished, and, as he prayed, the angel came to him and said: "Fear not: your apostolate shall never cease." As he thus prayed, the glimmering light grew in brightness, and ceased not until once more all the hills and valleys of Ireland were lit up in their pristine splendour, and then the angel announced to St. Patrick: "Such shall be the abiding splendour of Divine truth in Ireland."

This rosary was designed to express St. Patrick's beautiful vision. The gleaming two-tone Czech Firepolished Ave beads are difficult to manufacture, just as it is difficult to maintain our faith while we live in this sinful world. These particular beads are green and crystal: green for Ireland, and crystal for the "rays of Divine Faith" that St. Patrick saw lighting up the island. Some of the beads are mostly crystal while other beads are mostly green; this represents how the light of faith fluctuated in the vision.

Further depicting the vision, the rest of the rosary is accented with gold, to represent "the abiding splendor of Divine truth". The rosary is strung on gold-colored Accuflex wire, and culminated with a gold-finished pewter Celtic cross. The Pater beads are gold-finished pewter beads inscribed with Celtic knots, and the centerpiece is a gold-finished Celtic knot as well. Gold-colored seed beads between the prayer beads carry the golden motif throughout the rosary.
